Stay Safe Training: Basic Safety and Security for UN/(I)NGO Staff (5 days)

In a world where the role of global (I)NGOs is increasing, the chances of encountering life threatening situations for implementing personnel of UN organizations, aid agencies and other (inter)national non-governmental organizations is on the rise. Dangers in humanitarian work arise from various factors including petty crime, politically motivated violence, and war zones. Additional threats can include terrorism, working in restricted environments, and natural / man-made disasters, including traffic accidents, etc. Being unprepared to act in these situations can jeopardize the continuity of humanitarian operations, reduce the efficiency and effectiveness of activities, and place humanitarian workers in further danger.

Proper training protects property, prevents injury, reduces liability, and saves lives.*HDFF understands that these staff members run an ever-greater risk of becoming victims of violence and conflict. Consequently you need an *All Hazard Approach to develop an Ample Risk Management (ARM) for your organization. Against this backdrop, HDFF has developed, in the context of the UN initiated program Saving Lives Together, a series of safety and security trainings called Stay Safe, which have been widely successfully with participants from organizations working all over the world. Our flagship Stay Safe training course has been conducted numerous times with participants coming from diverse location across the globe; ranging from Ghana and South Sudan in Africa, to Iraq in the Middle East, to Afghanistan in Central/South Asia, to Myanmar, Thailand, and Indonesia in Southeast Asia.
